Aged rawhide repair at tang. The number 2067 stamped in small letters on top exterior of buttplate. Only a total of 1501 Warner carbines, in .50 caliber, were produced in 1864. Additionally, 2500 carbines were later made in Feb-March, 1865, chambered for the 56-50 Spencer cartridge. Marked on l/s frame JAMES WARNER. SPRINGFIELD MASS/WARNER’S PATENT.
