Cal. 45. Barrel length 3-1/2", with Colt factory letter indicating shipped to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co., Chicago, Illinois, February 25, 1882. S.N. 77639. A unique variation, 100% original to the gun, containing a transverse pin holding the cylinder pin, similar to later transition models evolving from black powder to smokeless powder. Perhaps one of the earliest of this type known to exist. A true collector’s rarity, with 60-70% of the original finish. Includes letter from Arnold M. Chernoff dated 1984 describing how he acquired this gun in 1952 at a local gun show. Ex. collection of Arnold M. Chernoff, Ken Karnak, Stan Shapiro & Chris Anderson.
